What to bring / what you'll talk through

Helpful to have:

• Your Medicare card (or the numbers on it)
• Date of birth, and when your Part A and Part B started or will start
• A list of prescriptions, including doses
• Doctors and hospitals you want to keep using
• Current coverage — Original Medicare only, Advantage, Supplement, Part D, or something from an employer or a spouse
• Other insurance that might affect what you can enroll in

We'll use that to talk through what you're trying to do and which of the three lines apply. Enrollment has calendars and rules. I can walk you through the ones that apply to you. I cannot move a deadline, and I cannot guarantee a plan will accept the enrollment.

Types of Medicare I write

Medicare Advantage

Also called Part C. Private-company plans that include Part A and Part B benefits, and often more. Networks, referrals, drug coverage, and extras vary. I can talk through Advantage plans I am appointed to write — not every plan in the county, and not a promise the application will go through.

Medicare Supplement

Also called Medigap. These policies work alongside Original Medicare to help with some of the costs Medicare leaves. What I can offer depends on the products I write and on whether you can enroll. I am not putting an issue-guarantee claim on this page.

Part D

Prescription drug plans. The conversation is about your actual drug list. Formularies change. A drug covered this year may not be treated the same next year. We check; we don't assume.

Why call a local licensed agent instead of a form

Medicare plan finders are useful for a first pass and easy to misread. A star rating is not a fit. A low premium is not the same as a low year. A drug that looks covered on a website can still hit a restriction at the pharmacy.
